Sometimes when plugging something into an outlet, there is a little spark of electricity that jumps from the outlet to the plug. I've found that by using a little switch like this, I can plug it in in the Off position and then just move the switch to the On position, without any sparks. I keep one 'permanently' attached to the plug end of my laptop power supply. It's also handy for quirky appliances (e.g. popcorn makers) that don't have an off/on switch of their own - I've never liked having to unplug the popcorn maker to shut it off.Picked this up to switch off an exercise bike that had no power button. It makes turning it off so much easier. The only thing I don't like is how little pressure it takes to switch. I feel like I could blow on it to flip the switch. That's an exaggeration and it works well so I can't complain. I think it is a good value for the money.I am at this time using 4 of the Philips wall plug switches for standard 1500 Watt space heaters. I have used just about every switch out there, and non of them have the breaker which is the most important part of this switch when you are running a space heater. I have had bad luck with some of the switches getting too hot, and burning up the switch, and the plug, but caught in time to replace the plug, and toss the so-called 1800 Watt switch. A space heater will draw a constant amount of Wattage which will heat up the cord, plug, switch, and wall plug. In other words, the most dangerous thing you can run off of a wall plug switch. Over time, the switch plastic housing gets brittle, and may cause internal metal (switch) parts to fail. I will come back in two months, and give a final rating on these switches, but so far, they are all working with no overheat problems. Please note, that the round ground pin does nothing on this switch, other than let you plug into the device with a three prong plug.I wanted to have a switch for when I am using my plug in lights rather than plugging and unplugging them each use. I love that it is easy to add this on. The only thing I wish it had was some indication or color coded so you can remember which side is off and which is on. I ended up just taping a small piece of electrical tape to one side so I can tell when it is off or on. I have seen another product that has that lighted feature but when I read the reviews, most said it wasn't working well and may even cause a circuit. Given that unsafe fact, I think the manual work around isn't so bad for me with this product then. I would buy this again.After searching for this sort of item for sometime I finally found this one.It serves the purpose of ON/OFF and so far no issues. The price point is fine as well.5 Stars !!Works fine, as expected.Great safety addition to an inline fan that was "unfused" as supplied. So many fans used in the US are not designed with fuses. Anything that could prevent the motor from turning while the fan is running could result in a fire in the absence of a fusing device. So, this is an essential item to attach to the power cord of any unfused device. This could save a life or a building ... think about it!!The switch is a little soft, as in it will turn off briefly if you just touch it. Kinda cheap looking.
